Concussion Process Information

When a competitor is diagnosed with, or suspected of, concussion at a Speedway NZ track, the Speedway NZ Concussion Protocol is initiated.

The Competitor is stood down for 22 days, where day 1 is the day of the injury.

Once the 22 days have been completed, the competitor must then supply the Steward with the completed Medical Certificate from their Doctor stating they are fit and able to race again.

A competitor diagnosed with Concussion has the ability to apply to the Speedway NZ Office to have their standdown period reduced from 22 days to an absolute minimum of 15 days from the date of the injury. The competitor will be required to see a Specialist of Speedway NZs choice at their own cost.
